Your toilet seat is one of the most-used places in the house and keeping it clean is an important way to improve hygiene. The good news is you don’t need bleach, harsh chemicals, or abrasives to get the job done.
Every year, our Customer Service team takes hundreds of calls from people who ask about cleaning their toilet seat. Seems they’ve used these harsh chemicals and are now dealing with a toilet seat that’s lost its luster, become drab, or has yellowed as a result. It’s become an eyesore in their bathroom, kind of like a guest who has overstayed its welcome.
We don’t want that happening to you.
If it has, we can help. Click here to see our popular toilet seats with features that make your life easier and add style to your décor.
To clean your toilet seat, we recommend using mild hand soap and water only. That’s it. Antibacterial hand soap or dish soap are also acceptable – using any of these will preserve your toilet seat’s glossy finish. As we said, any harsh chemical or abrasive will dull your toilet seat’s finish. View the full list of offenders here.
Let's get started.
Grab a pair of cleaning gloves, paper towel, mild soap and a scrub bucket filled with warm water. Pour some of the soap in the water and swish it around. Dip your paper towel in the water, squeeze out the excess, and wipe both sides of the cover. Then wipe both sides of the ring, using more cleaner if necessary.
Next let’s tackle those hard-to-reach places between the toilet seat hinges. Thankfully, many of our toilet seats feature easy-clean hinges that allow the seat to be easily removed, making this part of the job a breeze! Remove the seat and set it aside. Clean the space between the bolts, reinstall your toilet seat and you’re good to go!
